Ruthless Sundowns Ladies Hit Seven Past Durban Ladies to Secure 11th Straight Win
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies produced another outstanding display in the Hollywoodbets Super League, crushing Durban Ladies 7–0 on Saturday morning to register their 11th consecutive victory.
The Brazilians were in control from the outset. Refilwe Tholakele opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finding the net in her fifth straight game to continue her superb scoring streak. She doubled her tally just six minutes later with another confident finish after fine buildup play. Noxolo Cesane made it 3–0 in the 13th minute with a composed strike following a clever team move and Nthabiseng Majiya quickly added a fourth a minute later, taking full advantage of a defensive lapse to slot home with precision.
After the break, Melinda Kgadiete extended the lead in the 64th minute, calmly finishing off a beautifully timed pass. Lelona Daweti then came off the bench to add two more late goals in the 84th minute and stoppage time, wrapping up a brilliant all-around performance and another clean sheet for the league leaders.
Following the victory, midfielder Oratile Mokwena, who provided two assists, praised the team’s unity and focus.
“Today’s game was very good and I am really proud of how we played. I managed to provide two assists, but it was our teamwork that made the difference. We applied everything we learnt from training and everyone gave their best. Scoring seven goals and keeping a clean sheet shows how much effort we put into both attack and defence. We are improving every week and the spirit within the team is very strong.”
Midfielder Noxolo Cesane, who also found the back of the net and continues to dazzle in her debut season, reflected on the team’s mentality and discipline.
“We all followed the coaches’ instructions carefully and stayed true to our game plan. The entire team worked really hard, from the back to the front. We could have scored even more, but we are satisfied with our performance. Our goal was to stay focused, execute our combinations and maintain our defensive structure, which we did perfectly. This result shows the reward of teamwork and commitment.”
With this latest triumph, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have now collected 65 points from 25 games, boasting 21 wins and 2 draws. They have scored an incredible 73 goals and conceded only seven times, making them the team with both the best attack and best defence in the league.
