Clinical Sundowns Ladies Defeat UJ to Extend Winning Streak
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their dominant form in the Hollywoodbets Super League with a commanding 3–0 victory over the University of Johannesburg (UJ) at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Goals from Refilwe Tholakele, Nthabiseng Majiya, and Kholosa Biyana sealed another impressive win for Banyana Ba Style, extending their unbeaten run to 12 matches and keeping them firmly in control at the top of the league standings.
Defender Karabo Makhurubetshi expressed her satisfaction with the team’s focus and execution after the game.
“We are happy with the performance. We started a bit slowly in the first few minutes, but once we settled into our rhythm, we were able to pick up the pace and achieve a good result. The technical team was very clear with the game plan and kept us focused throughout. We are very proud of the team’s response, especially in the second half, where our movement and communication improved. Every player contributed, and wins like this show our collective discipline and hunger to keep the momentum going.”
Sundowns Ladies have now registered 22 wins in 26 matches, with 2 draws, having scored 76 goals and conceded just 7, a reflection of their attacking power and defensive consistency this season.
Refilwe Tholakele’s strike means she now leads the Club’s scoring chart with 13 goals, followed by Boitumelo Rabale, who is on 11 for the season. Both Nthabiseng Majiya and Isabella Ludwig have scored 10 times this season. Melinda Kgadiete follows closely with eight, while Noxolo Cesane has netted seven and Nonhlanhla Mthandi six. Other scorers include Lelona Daweti with three, Munashe Mugwara with two, and Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Tiisetso Makhubela, Bambanani Mbane, Katleho Malebana, and Kholosa Biyana, who have each scored once.
