Our Ke Yona Story

The Nedbank Cup traces its origins to 1971, when it was first played as the Life Challenge Cup. It has operated under several names and sponsors over the decades — the Mainstay Cup, the ABSA Cup, and its current form under Nedbank sponsorship since 2008.

In the Nedbank-sponsored era (from 2008), Mamelodi Sundowns have won the competition four times: in 2008, 2015, 2020 and 2022. Their most recent victory came in 2022, a 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants in the final at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.
